28/09/13 - Bournemouth 1 - 3 Blackburn

A trip to the coast was in order for our first Championship game of the season. A great opportunity to tie in a cheeky weekend away by booking a hotel room for the night! I decided it would be a good game to watch as both Bournemouth and Blackburn were mid table so would be keen to get the points. We travelled down on Saturday morning and checked into the Heathlands Hotel for 2pm. Leaving my lovely girlfriend Mel with a bad back in the hotel room (bless her) I drove a couple of miles down the road to check out the Goldsands Stadium (Dean Court).

For the first time this season I was to meet someone who had registered with me and not be alone! Natalie had expressed her interest in attending the match to add the Goldsands to her own Full 92! We met outside the ground, purchased our tickets and in we went. The Ted Macdougal stand is the home end and we sat in there fairly close to the travelling Blackburn fans. This was pretty good as it created some atmosphere. Lots of banter between the fans always makes for an entertaining game I think. Lots of "Who are yaaa??"

The match itself was a fairly one sided affair. Blackburn had most of the play and were 3-0 up by half time. They played like they wanted it more, seemed pretty organised and made Bournemouth look like amateurs at the back. They came out fighting in the second half but could only get a single goal back and the game ended 3-1 to the away team, much to the delight of the travelling Blackburn fans! Full match report here.

After the game Natalie dashed off to get her train but assured me she'd be attending more with us in the future when she wasn't watching her beloved Everton. I then proceeded to get stuck in the traffic for an hour trying to get away from Dean Court. Probably my own fault for parking so close! Note to self, in future take a bike!

By the time I got to the hotel the poorly back was slightly better and the lovely girlfriend and I went for dinner at a lovely Italian before sampling some of Bournemouth's nightlife! Definitely recommend Bar So for a few drinks and a bit of dancing! With the weather nice the next day we sampled some more of what Bournemouth had to offer before visiting Poole and then back home. Who says football can't be a social thing? And that my friends is what The Full 92 is all about!
